Who We Are

Captain

Olav Snijders

The Netherlands

Before the charter years, Olav taught students at Motor Boat Fast Track, the RYA motorboat school in Gibraltar. He then spent 15 years on luxury yacht charters, most of that time on the Heesen motor yacht Brazil. She is an aluminium yacht delivered by Heesen in 1993 and later extended to 43.5 metres. Across teaching, charter and deliveries, his combined experience is 180,000 nautical miles. A guest who chartered Brazil in Croatia wrote that Olav was “a very capable captain, manager and team builder” who “has everything under control without much stress.”

He also had his own yard. Olav is the founder of Snijders Yachts in Rotterdam, incorporated in 2016 to build sport and pleasure craft, and he has been its director. In 2022 the yard, working with Zwijnenburg and Dutchflows, relaunched Brazil after a refit he described for Boat International: the owner wanted a beach club closer to the sea. The stern grew by about four metres into a 36-square-metre beach club, the bridge deck grew by 1.5 metres so the profile stayed sleek, and two new generators were fitted to run CMC zero-speed stabilisers.

Co-founder

Joseph Creasey

England

Joseph has been on the water since childhood, aboard sailing and motor yachts. He qualified as a commercially endorsed RYA Yachtmaster Offshore for both sail and power, and completed a season working for Olav before joining the merchant navy. He trained as a deck cadet with Evergreen, one of the world’s largest container shipping lines, standing bridge watches on trans-Pacific routes between Asia and the Americas. His training included navigation, meteorology, ship stability, cargo operations and marine engineering. He chose to return to yachting before completing the cadetship, rejoining Olav for another season and completing deliveries together.
